Syncrolite provided the lighting for the wrap around the Olympic Stadium for the London Summer Olympics. This dramatic lighting design served as the visual identity of the Games and was seen by millions via television coverage of the event.
Syncrolite provided 38 Syncrolite XL 8K xenon fixtures that were mounted on towers to provide general illumination and color changing chase patterns throughout the entire Olympic and Paralympic run. The unique ability of the Syncrolite fixture to employ VFL holographic lenses to provide large even wash lighting made this “Olympic Sized” project possible.
The programming of the wrap was coordinated to provide a variety of different looks and effects during the Games. The wrap was also integrated into Patrick Woodroffe’s design for the opening and closing ceremonies.
The Syncrolite equipment performed as expected throughout the approximately three month run despite the fact that it rained heavily throughout most of this time.
